Pakistan leave out Shaheen, Australia unchanged for Warner’s farewell Test

Australia decided not to include a second spinner in the lineup for the final Test against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground, maintaining an unchanged team for David Warner's farewell match.

Captain Pat Cummins confirmed that Australia's fast-bowling trio had fully recovered from the previous Test in Melbourne, securing the series with a narrow 79-run victory.

Pakistan made two changes, with Saim Ayub making his Test debut as an opener in place of Imamul Haq, and off-spinner Sajid Khan replacing senior fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Reflecting on the team's performance in Melbourne, Pakistan skipper Shan Masood emphasized the importance of learning from mistakes and building on the positive aspects to win more Tests.

Despite the SCG's reputation for favoring spin, Australia opted not to bring in a second spinner alongside Nathan Lyon, as the pitch appeared well-grassed on the eve of the match.

The Sydney Test has a history of being affected by rain, but the weather forecast for the week indicated only a medium chance of showers.

Warner, gearing up for his 112th and final Test, made a public plea for the return of his missing baggy green caps, which disappeared from his luggage during transit from Melbourne.

With scores of 164, 0, 38, and six in the Pakistan series, Warner is set to receive the desired farewell in his home city. Captain Cummins expressed the hope for Warner to score a hundred and for a leg-spinner to take the last wicket, creating a fitting end to "Warner Week."

As Warner, 37, enters his final Test, he boasts a remarkable career record, amassing 8,695 runs at an average of 44.58, including 26 centuries and 36 half-centuries.
